Helen Sandra Theriault, of Milford, Connecticut, devoted wife, mother and Grammy, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2021.
Sandy, as she was known by all, was born on July 18, 1943, in Stamford, CT. Older sister to Frank "Chip" Slimak, Jr, she was the best big sister a brother could have asked for. Sandy graduated from Milford High School in 1961. From there, she began working full time, and at her second full time job, met a friend who would introduce her to the love of her life, Ky.
To Sandy, family was everything. After having her five children, she was a stay at home mom for many years; truly one of the most difficult jobs there is; especially with five small children. While it must have been exhausting at times, she always made it look easy. During these years, she was also actively involved in the Seabreeze School PTA and in the lives of her children and their friends. She welcomed all who entered into her home with open arms, and made each and every person feel valued, loved and protected. Her patience, creativity and sense of humor were unparalleled.
When Sandy returned to the workforce, she was a familiar and cherished face to many at Gran Central Supermarket in Milford for many years. There, she took pride in taking care of others, whether it be her ability to converse kindly with the elderly regular customers or her friendly nature with all who came into the store. Her coworkers, many of them high school and college students affectionately, looked up to her as a second mom.
After retiring, Sandy enjoyed reading, traveling with her husband, Ky, and spending time with her grandchildren. As amazing of a parent as she was, Sandy was an equally spectacular Grammy. The twinkle in her eyes and look of pure love each time she saw any one of her grandchildren could light up a room.
Predeceased by her husband Ky last year, she leaves behind her five children: Anne-Marie (Kendall) Alderman, Greg (Diana) Theriault, Julianne (Raymond) Cianciullo, Michelle (Scott) San Antonio, and Paul Theriault (Monique Atherton).
She also leaves behind her 10 grandchildren, Emily Alderman, Kathryn Alderman, Michael Alderman, Hannah Rose Theriault, Mason Theriault, Oliver Theriault, Maria Cianciullo, Gabriel San Antonio, Dante San Antonio, and Carmine San Antonio.
In addition, she leaves behind her brother, Frank John "Chip" Slimak, Jr. (Rose Kern).
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at Our Lady Star of the Sea in Stamford, Connecticut. Masks and social distancing will be required.
